Celtic Bans Green Brigade: Violent Assault on Steward and Police Caught on Camera!

A Shocking Incident: The Green Brigade’s Controversial Ban

Celtic’s bold move to ban the Green Brigade has sparked a heated debate.

Celtic Football Club has taken a firm stance against the Green Brigade fan group, imposing a three-match home ban following an alleged incident of “violent and threatening behaviour” at their recent match against Falkirk. The club released footage, claiming it depicts around 100 supporters verbally abusing and assaulting a steward and police officers.

But here’s where it gets controversial…

The flashpoint, according to Celtic, occurred after a ticket inspection at the rail seating section of Celtic Park. The Green Brigade had previously been issued a suspended sanction for “repeated serious safety and security breaches.” Now, the club is taking further action.

In a statement, Celtic confirmed that the suspended sanction would be applied, starting this weekend. The club has written to the Green Brigade and season ticket holders regarding the incident, emphasizing the unacceptability of assaulting staff and police.

“This was a serious and violent incident that cannot be tolerated. Celtic Park must be a safe environment for all, and the club has a duty to address such behaviour,” the statement read.

Footage published by the club shows a group of fans rushing down a walkway, out of sight. Later, more supporters are seen hurrying across the section, adding to the chaos.

Police Scotland has launched an appeal for witnesses. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland strongly condemned the disorder, stating, “No one should be harmed or intimidated while carrying out their duties. This type of violent behaviour will not be tolerated, and we are determined to trace those involved.”

The officers and steward involved were left traumatized and are receiving support. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

And this is the part most people miss…

In October 2023, a section of the Green Brigade had their season tickets withdrawn indefinitely due to a “serious escalation” of unacceptable behavior. However, the ban was lifted in December after the group agreed to a new safety code of conduct.

So, what do you think? Is Celtic’s decision justified, or is it an overreaction? Share your thoughts in the comments and let’s discuss this controversial move!
